Pastor Paul was raised on a farm in Iowa. As a young man, Pastor Paul lived in Roma, Texas and attended Rio Grande City High School where he learned the Spanish language. He attended a small university in Saltillo, Coahuila. Later, it was at Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburg, Texas that he was confronted with the true Gospel. He was convicted by the Holy Spirit regarding his unbelief and his rebellion against the sovereignty of God. God saved him in February of 1975.

Over the years, Pastor Paul preached at several churches as pulpit supply. He served bi-vocationally for 10 years at a church in Colorado preaching every other month. In 2002 he was called to fulltime ministry at Elm Avenue Baptist Church in Grand Junction, Colorado and has been there ever since. He had the privilege of preaching and traveling with Brother Paul Washer in Peru in 2008 and has also preached at conferences in Mexico.

Pastor Paul prefers expositional preaching and the church where he serves is very committed to Christ-centered worship, God-honoring music and family integrated services. They are also planting another church in Durango, Colorado.

Pastor Paul is married. His wife, Rebecca, serves in the ministry with him, especially in leading women’s Bible studies. They have 3 grown children and 3 grand-children (2 living grand-daughters and a grandson who has gone on ahead).
